About This Role
The clinical platform is the technical foundation that all of Tile Health’s clinical products are built upon-including care plan management, clinical rules engines, and patient timeline aggregation. The Senior Software Engineer will work on complex distributed systems challenges while maintaining the reliability and data integrity that clinical users demand. This role combines deep technical craftsmanship with a meaningful mission: building software that directly improves patient care.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement core platform services including patient timeline aggregation, clinical event processing, and care plan state management
- Architect scalable, event-driven systems that process high-throughput clinical data feeds with exactly-once semantics
- Lead technical design reviews and establish coding standards and testing practices for the clinical platform team
- Develop and maintain comprehensive API contracts (OpenAPI, gRPC) for platform services consumed by product teams
- Participate in on-call rotation and drive incident response and post-mortem processes for clinical platform services
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and technical knowledge sharing
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of backend software engineering experience with complex distributed systems
- Strong proficiency in one or more of: TypeScript (Node.js), Go, or Java with microservices architecture experience
- Deep understanding of event-driven architecture patterns, CQRS, and eventual consistency trade-offs
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL), caching layers (Redis), and message brokers (Kafka)
- Proven track record of designing APIs that serve as stable, well-documented contracts for multiple consuming teams
Nice to Have
- Experience building clinical software or working with healthcare data standards (HL7 FHIR, CDA)
- Familiarity with clinical decision support standards (CDS Hooks, CQL)
- Background in building multi-tenant SaaS platforms with tenant-level data isolation
- Experience with chaos engineering or advanced reliability testing methodologies
