Head of Data Governance

About This Role

As Tile Health scales its partner network and data footprint, maintaining rigorous data governance is critical to earning and keeping the trust of patients, providers, and regulators. The Head of Data Governance will build the organizational framework-policies, standards, tooling, and culture-that ensures data is accurate, discoverable, and used responsibly. This leader will report to the Chief Data Officer and partner closely with engineering, security, legal, and clinical teams.

What You'll Do

• Establish a comprehensive data governance program including data cataloging, lineage tracking, ownership assignment, and lifecycle management
• Define data quality standards and SLAs for clinical, claims, and operational datasets, and implement automated monitoring
• Lead the creation of data classification policies that align with HIPAA, state privacy laws, and partner contractual obligations
• Oversee data access provisioning processes ensuring principle of least privilege and audit trail completeness
• Chair the cross-functional Data Governance Council and facilitate resolution of data-related policy disputes

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or data quality, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
• Deep knowledge of healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, state breach notification laws)
• Experience deploying data governance tooling such as Collibra, Alation, or Apache Atlas
• Strong understanding of data architecture concepts including data lakes, warehouses, and lakehouse patterns
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across engineering, product, legal, and clinical organizations
• Excellent written communication skills for authoring governance policies and standards documentation

Nice to Have

• CDMP or DGSP certification
• Experience governing machine learning training data and model metadata
• Background in healthcare payer or provider data operations
